If water penetrates the surface of leather, the natural oils of the leather will dry out, and it will become stiff and brittle.  Moisture, and with it mold, can seriously harm leather. 

Not KUSHITANI's Country Jeans! EX leather is waterproof, and therefore the easiest maintenance you'll find!  You can even wash EX jeans in a washer, then hang them and let them dry.

EX-mesh jeans will not keep you completely dry, due to seams or perforation.  However, waterproof leather will not get soaked and heavy through either rain or the rider's perspiration.
